PRR Hires New Director of Community Building

KEVIN THOMPSON BRINGS STRONG PUBLIC STRATEGY BACKGROUND

SEATTLE, WA (April 7, 2008) — PRR, one of Seattle's largest public affairs and communications firm, has hired Kevin Thompson to serve as director of the firm's growing Community Building and Public Involvement group.

"Kevin's skill with mission driven problem solving in government, non-profit, health care and transportation make him a perfect fit with PRR." said Rita Brogan, PRR CEO.

Kevin will build PRR's Seattle-based market share in community and public affairs, as well as expand the firm's reach into other markets in the Pacific Northwest, the Midwest and the metro area of the District of Columbia. "We intend to grow a practice that positions PRR as the go to firm that creates nexus between community expectations and the requirements of large scale public projects," Kevin Thompson stated.

Recent PRR projects include planning for Yesler Terrace Redevelopment, Bellingham's Waterfront Redevelopment Plan, a long range plan for Fort Worden in Port Townsend, and a master plan for redeveloping a sixty acre site in downtown Honolulu. PRR is also working on numerous transportation and environmental projects in the Northwest.

Prior to joining PRR, Kevin was vice president of Conlon Public Strategies in Chicago, responsible for planning, facilitating and executing legislative, regulatory and public affairs strategies for several health care related clients, as well as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Sallie Mae and the University of Chicago. He has worked for the University of Chicago Hospitals and Health Care System in advocacy roles, as well as the Chicago Transit Authority, the Chicago Department of Planning and Development, the Chicago Department of Aviation, and the Office of the Mayor for the City of Chicago. In 2004, Kevin took a sabbatical to serve as special assistant to Barack Obama during his run for the U.S. Senate.

Kevin graduated with a Bachelors Degree from Knox College in Illinois, and attended the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Urban Planning and Public Policy.
