High Point HOPE VI Redevelopment
The Seattle Housing Authority's (SHA) High Point redevelopment is funded through a Housing for People Everywhere program (HOPE VI) grant. The ambitious project will ultimately redevelop 716 subsidized units into a mixed-income community with 1600 units, improved infrastructure and amenities, and additional community facilities. The redevelopment will bring a significant change to the West Seattle neighborhood and to the current residents of High Point. As a result of the process designed by PRR, residents of many cultures and languages, service providers, neighbors, and elected officials have invested in the projects design and development.
PRR's communications plan served as a roadmap for how and when to best convey project information to diverse audiences. The plan also guided all parties involved, including SHA's staff, consultants and development partners in their respective outreach efforts. Interactive design workshops for residents and neighbors, presentations to community organizations and associations, and one-on-one briefings to elected officials and community leaders worked in tandem with newsletters, flyers, and phone trees to communicate about project progress and development. As a complement to SHA's existing staff and consultant teams, PRR served as an integral member of the redevelopment team to ensure that stakeholders were informed and engaged in the High Point design and redevelopment. The result: a vibrant, diverse community that is experiencing professional accolades and brisk sales.
