Pullman Regional Hospital

Pullman Memorial Hospital sought assistance in the grand opening of a new state-of-the-art replacement facility that coincided with the launch of a new namePullman Regional Hospitaland new brand. As the second newest hospital in Washington State in the past 25 years and the only hospital in the county, Pullman Regional Hospitals new facility is a significant development. The hospital contracted PRR to provide comprehensive market research, which drove the re-branding of the hospital and media outreach campaign strategies. PRR helped develop the new brand, made operational recommendations, and helped inform residents about the new facility and the benefits it brings to the area.

To begin the market research process, PRR reviewed existing research previously conducted by the hospital. PRR assembled focus groups with community members and researched participants thoughts about the hospital, its name and logo, their healthcare priorities, and operational functions. With the information received, PRR recommended a name modification and brand overhaul. PRRs graphic design team developed a new logo, and incorporated the new brand into the hospitals printed materials. PRR also helped design and implement the grand opening materials and events, including a postcard mailer and visitors guide. To let Washington residents know about the grand opening, PRR pitched media in Seattle and Eastern Washington. Well-timed, state-wide stories in TV, radio and print media introduced the new hospital and its specialized offerings. As a direct result of PRRs research and graphic design work, Pullman management successfully changed the hospital name, logo and colors, and incorporated the communitys suggestions into the overall theme, operations and plans of the hospital. The grand opening ceremonies were a huge success; media coverage included a front page story in the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce and in-depth stories in the Seattle Times, Spokesman Review, and The Oregonian. Broadcast coverage included KAYU-TV, KHQ-TV, KREM-TV, KSKN-TV, KLEW-TV, KPBX-FM, and Northwest Public Radio (NWPR). Online articles appeared on websites for the Daily Journal of Commerce, The Oregonian, Spokesman Review, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Seattle Times, KHQ-TV, KLEW-TV, KATU-TV (Portland), KGW-TV (Portland), and NWPR. Overall, PRRs media outreach generated over 2 million gross impressions, extended public awareness, and strengthened Pullman Regional Hospitals position in Washington State and beyond.

“Through extensive media outreach, the new Pullman Regional Hospital achieved a strong market position and state-wide press coverage”
