Media Relations Group Account Director, Seattle, WA
PRR is seeking a highly organized, fearless media relations and communications professional to join our Seattle office as the Group Account Director for our Media Relations team.
This position will manage the staff and projects of the Media Relations group at PRR - a firm focused on national and regional environmental, health, transportation and social issues for public and private sector clients. The Media Relations Group Account director will drive strategy, direct media relations campaigns, and aggressively work to secure new clients. The Group Account Director will work independently to manage large client contracts, help clients set and meet goals through creative media relations strategies, pitch and secure media placements, while supervising and mentoring a staff of motivated professionals at various levels. The successful candidate will have a solid agency background, must LOVE to pitch and have great relationships with the media. The Group Account Director must know how to secure national hits, yet know that sometimes a placement in an industry trade publication achieves the client's goals better than a hit on the "Today" show. This person must be entrepreneurial in nature and thrive on rolling up their sleeves and being a part of the team and the process. Experience in new media is a must.
Qualifications include:
- Ability to find the "news" in an issue, develop the story idea, and identify the right media to pitch it to
- Demonstrated ability to pitch and place national and local media
- Ability to mentor staff at various levels of their career
- Creativity and resourcefulness in problem-solving and approach to achieving the client's goals
- Ability to identify when a pitch needs to change direction
- Understanding of and ability to communicate social marketing concepts
- Excellent planning abilities and project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling and delegation
- The desire and drive to build and seek out new business to grow the media relations team and PRR's portfolio of work
- Superior writing skills
- Ability to motivate and inspire those around them
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects on time and within budget
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Ability to exercise confidentiality and mature judgment
- Excellent proofing and editing skills
- Bachelors of Arts Degree or commensurate experience
- 8 - 10 years demonstrated experience in the required skill areas
